Friends University Concert Band to present The Standards Concert Nov. 7

The Friends University Concert Band will present a concert Monday, Nov. 7, 2016, at 7:30 p.m. in the Riney Fine Arts Center’s Sebits Auditorium.

The annual Standards Concert features standard repertoire composed for wind band, including Variations on a Korean Folk Song by John Barnes Chance and Trittico by Vaclav Nelhybel. Dr. David Ray Turnbull will appear as guest trumpet soloist with the band, performing the Alexander Arutiunian Concerto for Trumpet.

In addition, Dr. Gary Leopold, who teaches trumpet at Friends University, will join Dr. Turnbull to perform Vivaldi’s Concerto for Two Trumpets. Dr. Turnbull will present a free Trumpet Master Class Sunday, Nov. 6, at 3 p.m. in Room C6 of the Friends University Riney Fine Arts Building.
