Young Musicians to Converge on University for 24th Jazz Festival Feb. 17-18

More than 35 middle school, high school and junior college bands will come to Friends University to celebrate and participate in the 24th Annual Jazz Festival Feb. 17-18, 2017.

All daytime activities are free and open to the public. Visit friends.edu/jazzfestival for a detailed schedule. Students will work with renowned jazz guest artists to improve their musical skills.

Heading the festival this year will be the group of Cuban women “Maqueque,” led by Toronto-based saxophonist Jane Bunnett. The festival brings in more than 850 middle school, high school and junior college students and directors, plus two nights of outstanding jazz concerts.

Tickets for evening performances are $9 for adults and $6 for seniors and students. Tickets can be purchased online at friends.edu/finearts or by calling the Fine Arts Box Office at 316-295-5677.
