Friends University presents Concert Band’s spring concert

On Monday, Feb. 13, 2017, at 7:30 p.m., the Concert Band will present a Presidents Day concert in Sebits Auditorium, Riney Fine Arts Center at Friends University.

Dr. Charles Parker, former professor of theatre at Friends University, will be featured as narrator. The concert will feature music focused on the presidents of the United States from President James A. Garfield through Donald Trump. Included on the program is Aaron Copland’s Lincoln Portrait and a work on the life of John F. Kennedy titled Ask Not. The Friends University Flute Choir, under the direction of Amy Hoffman, professor of flute, will open the program performing works the group will play at the Kansas Music Educators Association In-Service Workshop.

Tickets are $6 for adults, and $4 for seniors and students. They may be purchased online at friends.edu/finearts, or by calling the Fine Arts Box Office at 316-295-5677.
