Spring ballet presents new choreography in 21st Century

Wichita, KS – Incorporating some of Wichita’s best musical talent for his newest ballet, Director of Ballet Stan Rogers will present 21st Century Projects at Friends University’s Spring Ballet May 5-6. Rogers has gathered Dr. Von Hansen, Dr. Susan Mayo and Torin Andersen of Spirit of the Stairs to help conceive his newest vision.

21 Century Projects BalletThe ballet will feature new compositions by Dr. Hansen, new compositions by Spirit of the Stairs and some favorites from Dr. Mayo and her quartet, including Rob Loren, violin; Elizabeth Wallace, viola; and Wichita Symphony concertmaster John Harrison, violin. 21st Century Projects will be a comprehensive look forward at music for ballet.

“This live achievement will be unlike what you’ve experienced before and will culminate in a group performance of works written specifically for 21st Century Projects,” Rogers said.

The spring ballet takes place Friday, May 5, and Saturday, May 6, at 7:30 p.m. in Sebits Auditorium. Tickets for adults are $6; students and seniors are $4. The performance will take place in Sebits Auditorium in Riney Fine Arts Center on the Friends University campus at 2100 W. University Ave., Wichita, Kan.
