HR program earns SHRM endorsement and ranks No. 1 in state

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) recently gave Friends University’s human resource management (HRM) degree program an endorsement for the fourth consecutive three-year term since 2008.

In 2008, Friends University was the first human resource program in Kansas to receive the endorsement from SHRM. The endorsement designates that the program’s curriculum aligns with SHRM’s education standards and learning outcomes to successfully prepare human resources professionals for their careers.

Friends University is also the best human resource college in Kansas, according to universities.com. Universities.com based its ranking on a compilation of data from government sources, student surveys, college interviews and editorial review.

“Our human resource management program has consistently stood out among colleges in Kansas,” said Dr. Kathy Slemp, program director and professor for Friends’ program. “The faculty and curriculum at Friends University are among the best in the state, as shown by the endorsement and the recent ranking by universities.com.”

Most of the instructors in the HRM program are certified through the HR Certification Institute. Dr. Slemp holds the highest industry certification of Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and the Society for Human Resource Management’s SHRM-SCP.

Friends University’s Bachelor of Business Administration in Human Resource Management provides adult students with extensive experience and training relevant to all business professionals in both profit and nonprofit settings. The degree equips students to provide business leadership and strategy in the workplace.
