Friends University to present fall ballet Oct. 6-8

Wichita, Kan. – Friends University will present the Fall Ballet, a historical look at dance from Europe to America. The performance takes place Friday, Oct. 6, and Saturday, Oct. 7, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 8, at 2 p.m. in Sebits Auditorium in the Riney Fine Arts Center.

“When it comes to a performance, it can be more enjoyable to watch if you know what to look for in dance,” said Stan Rogers, director of ballet and associate professor of dance. “Whether it’s a story or mood being portrayed, dance through movement and music communicates to the audience. Dance is easy to love, enjoy and enter into the movement once you have more understanding of how to watch.”

The performance will include dances from the middle ages to current contemporary ballet. It is narrated by Sharon Rogers, associate professor of dance, with new choreography by Stan Rogers.

Ticket prices for the fall ballet are $15 for adults and $12 for students and seniors (60+). The performance will take place in Sebits Auditorium in Riney Fine Arts Center on the Friends University campus at 2100 W. University Ave., Wichita, Kan.
