Friends and Butler Community College sign cyber security degree partnership agreement

Friends University is partnering with Butler Community College on an agreement that allows Butler students to seamlessly transfer credits to Friends University’s cyber security bachelor’s degree program.

“We are pleased to partner with Butler Community College on this agreement which allows a student who completes an Associate of Applied Science in Cyber Security degree or an Associate of Science in Computer Science degree from Butler Community College to be accepted into our bachelor’s program in cyber security,” said Friends University President Dr. Amy Bragg Carey. “This agreement recognizes that Butler’s students may transfer up to 78 credit hours and are ready to pursue a cyber degree at Friends.”

“Butler Community College is excited to partner in a state-of-the-art cyber security program that will allow students to learn from outstanding Butler faculty, as well as Friends University faculty who are leaders in their fields of expertise,” said Butler President Dr. Kim Krull. “We know our students will have a tremendous learning experience as they transfer into Friends’ comprehensive program to complete their bachelor’s degree and prepare to move into jobs where the cyber security landscape is ever-changing.”

The agreement was signed by Dr. Carey and Dr. Krull Feb. 20 in the cyber security lab in the Olive White Garvey Business and Technology Building on the campus of Friends University.

Friends University offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees in cyber security and dedicated a new cyber lab last October that is one of only three of its kind in the nation. The lab allows students to learn and practice real-time attack and defense mechanisms on the most comprehensive cyber defense training platform available.
