Tower Wind Quintet to Present “Creatures and Critters” March 28

Wichita, KS – The Friends University Tower Wind Quintet will present its 18th annual recital called “Creatures and Critters” Thursday, March 28, at 7:30 p.m.

The quintet is comprised of faculty members: Amy Hoffman, flute; Rachelle Goter, clarinet; Cindy Thompson, oboe; Denise Kintzel, horn; and Kimme Whittemore, bassoon.

“Creatures and Critters” will be a fun concert, with all songs featuring a different animal such as Peter and the Wolf, Five Frogs, and Fireflies.

“With works by Bach, Berio, Jenni Brandon, Mussorgsky, Owl City and Prokofiev, it is a concert for the wind enthusiast as well as those just looking for entertainment,” said Amy Hoffman, quintet flute.

Dr. Charles Parker will narrate Peter and the Wolf, Friends student Blake Ellis will beatbox with the quintet on Owl City’s Fireflies and an entertaining video will accompany Ballet of the Chickens.

The performance will take place in Sebits Auditorium, Riney Fine Arts Center on the Friends University campus at 2100 W. University Ave., Wichita, Kan. Tickets are free, and the recital is open to the public.
