Friends University to present concert Oct. 23 featuring Jazz Vocal Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble II

Friends University’s Jazz department will present a concert Oct. 23, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. in Sebits Auditorium featuring the Jazz Vocal Ensemble with the Jazz Ensemble II.

The Jazz Vocal Ensemble, directed by Dr. Dale Heidebrecht, will perform songs such as “Over the Rainbow” and “Were the World Mine.”

The Jazz Ensemble II, directed by Dr. Robert Brooks, will play a piece composed by living jazz legend and Kansas native, Mike Steinel. Steinel (with Rosanna Eckert) was the guest artist in the Jazz Department Showcase last March.

“We are excited to showcase our Jazz department with an emphasis on vocal jazz for this concert. You won’t want to miss these incredible groups,” said Dr. Robert Brooks.

The performance will take place in Riney Fine Arts Center’s Sebits Auditorium on the Friends University campus at 2100 W. University Ave., Wichita, Kan. Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for seniors and students.
