Friends University Fine Arts presents Footloose the Musical!

Wichita, KS – Friends University Fine Arts department proudly presents Footloose, the Broadway hit musical, live on stage February 1-3, 7:30 p.m. at Vima Church Theatre, 9112 East Central, 67206.

Footloose is a musical focusing on change, both inside and out. Ren and his mother have moved from Chicago to a small town and are faced with many challenges in adjusting to their new norm. This upbeat story has heartfelt undertones as two stories are paralleled: Ren’s loss of his father who left his family and Reverend Shaw’s loss of his son due to a tragic accident. How they cope with their grief is very different, but in the end, unbelievably similar.

Travel on this journey with us as we follow their story while taking a look back in time with the neon colors, bright energy and vibes of the 1980s. Footloose’s vibrant score lets us jam while celebrating the art of listening to the next generation while giving them grace and guiding them with a warm heart and open mind.

Just as Ren McCormack is adjusting to a new town, faculty member Joice Henry is also adjusting to her role as Visiting Instructor of Musical Theatre, having been appointed the role in the summer. Footloose will be her directorial debut at Friends University Fine Arts.

Tickets for the performance are $16 for adults and $12 for seniors and students. For more information or to purchase tickets, please contact the Fine Arts Box Office at 316-295-5677 or visit www.friends.edu/finearts.
