Friends University celebrates 125th Anniversary with original Within Her Storied Walls documentary premiere at Orpheum Theatre

Friends University continues the 125th Anniversary celebrations with an original full-length documentary premiere of Within Her Storied Walls at the Orpheum Theatre on Friday, Jan. 19 at 7 p.m.

The premiere of Within Her Storied Walls allows viewers to step inside 125 years of stories from within the walls of the clock tower at the edge of Wichita. Standing tall for over a century, Friends University Davis Administration Building has seen the development of a bustling city, the heartache of pandemics, the weight of economic downturn, and the hope driven by a faithful legacy; the result of a stereoscope salesman’s bold dream.

“It has been an exciting year celebrating the monumental milestone of 125 years of Friends University,” said Dr. Amy Bragg Carey, president of Friends University. “This full-length documentary gives a visual picture of our beloved university from where it started to where we are now spanning 125 years. The Davis Administration Building is the same building where it all began when the university opened. These walls have transformed many lives and supported a firm foundation of history and a mission at Friends University. It is an honor and blessing to be a part of the Friends University history.”

Within Her Storied Walls was directed and produced by Anna Marie Carey and supported by the Council of Independent Colleges and Lilly Endowment, Inc. The one-night-only event features never-before-seen interviews from past presidents, alumni, faculty and board members.

Tickets for the documentary premiere are $12.50 and can be purchased through the Orpheum Theatre here.
