Wichita, KS— As part of our Constitution Day celebrations, Friends University will host Merrill Eisenhower Atwater, great grandson of President Dwight D. Eisenhower, for a speaking event on September 17 in the Riney Chapel in the Riney Fine Arts Center. His topic will be “From Farm Boy to President: The Inspiring Journey of Dwight D. Eisenhower” and will start at 7 p.m.
Merrill is regularly called upon to be the guest of governmental and cultural international leadership. His international business accomplishments and accolades have seen him named the Honorary Ambassador of Chuncheon City, South Korea as well as receiving several international awards.
As both a global and local influential leader, Atwater’s focus on charitable growth and public service has been immense. He sits on the International Board of Directors for People to People International, the Menaul School and the United States Congressional Award Foundation, the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce Leadership Circle, and previously sat on the National Association of State Aviation Officials.
He was recognized by the Federal Aviation Administration with the prestigious Impact Award, was selected for the Business Magazine, Ingram’s, 40 Under 40, and Keeper of the Memories for the March of the Living. His most recent position update was in 2021, when Merrill Joined Legacy Health as the Chief Strategy Officer with the primary focus of saving rural healthcare in the state of Kansas.
