As a national leader in the promotion, education and study in Christian Spiritual Formation, something that is in the DNA of Friends University, we are so pleased to have the prestige and national recognition of an endowed chair in the name of Dallas Willard. We know this will enhance the academic excellence of the institution by attracting and retaining high-caliber faculty now and into the future. Additionally, the work of the Chair will advance the study of Christian Spiritual Formation to benefit not just our students, but the formation movement that is building across the country and world. It is very fitting that Dr. James Bryan Smith hold this position since he has been the architect of every Christian Spiritual Formation program at Friends University, including the Apprentice Institute.
