Friends University’s Fine Arts faculty will present a fanfare of art and music at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 20, 2012 in the Riney Fine Art Center’s Sebits Auditorium in Wichita.
Friends University’s diverse group of artist and teacher faculty professors will share music, drama and visual arts as they inspire new and returning students. The 75-minute exhibit and show is also an opportunity for the community to experience the creative and diverse faculty professors in the University’s Division of Fine Arts.
The exhibit and recital are free and open to the public.
Humberto Saenz’s work will be on display at the Friends University Riney Fine Arts Gallery from May 14 thru June 15, 2012. Come enjoy a night of free entertainment as the Friends University ballet seniors present their end of the semester Student Showcase performance. The show consists of choreographed pieces composed by the seniors. The numbers are the result of two semesters of dance composition and choreography.
The showcase begins at 7:30 p.m. on May 4 in Sebits Auditorium in the Riney Fine Arts Center at Friends University.

Music is expressed in the great outdoors as the combined Friends University Concert Band and Senseney Music Community Band perform Sunday, April 29, 2012. The concert is at 5 p.m. on Rose Window Plaza in front of the Davis Administration Building and will feature singer Earnest Alexander.
The 2012 Singing Quakers Symphony of Spring will explore the world “Through the Eyes of a Child” featuring musical performances from “Oliver,” “Newsies,” “Toy Story,” and “Tangled.”
Audiences can enjoy classic children’s songs, moving ballads, up-tempo dance numbers, and the majesty of the full orchestra April 26-28 at 7:30 p.m. and April 29 at 2 p.m. All performances are in the Riney Fine Arts Center’s Sebits Auditorium. Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for students and seniors.
The event combining songs, snicker doodles, coffee and college students is back. The Concert Choir Coffeehouse is an anticipated annual fundraiser every spring displaying the varied and entertaining talents of choir members. Each year provides different offerings of music, skits, juggling and other entertaining acts. Attendees will also have the opportunity to purchase new coffee mugs and Jumpy Monkey coffee while enjoying the performance.
This event is free and will be held Sunday, April 22, 2012, at 7 p.m. in the Casado Campus Center at Friends University.
Following his death in 1966, friends and colleagues of Wichita flutist and teacher George B. Tack formed a memorial committee for the purpose of perpetuating Tack’s lifelong interests in flute playing and young people. Tack’s Haynes flute was given to the committee to be loaned on an annual basis to a deserving young flutist who needed a better instrument but could not afford one. Since 1967, many young flutists have had a chance to use his instrument and be encouraged by it.
The Friends University Jazz Department will present the final jazz concert of the school year Friday, April 13, at 7:30 p.m. in Sebits Auditorium in the Riney Fine Arts Center. This concert by Friends University Jazz Ensembles I and II, directed by Lisa Hittle, will honor and feature all the graduating seniors in both bands.
Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for seniors and students.
