The Concert Band concerts feature renowned guest artists and some of the greatest new and standard literature from the wind band repertoire. The Friends University Community Orchestra includes students and community members in full orchestra. Chamber ensembles, including the Percussion Ensemble and the Chamber Orchestra offer more opportunities for great music.

FRIENDS UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY ORCHESTRA CONCERT - "VIVA LA FRANCE!"

Join in a celebration of French music via works by Debussy, Saint-Saens and Franck. Faculty artist Valerie Sullivan, violin, will be the featured soloist.

Sean O'Louglin, renowned wind band composer, will conduct several of his works with the Concert Band. O'Louglin is the 2012 Composer/Conductor-In-Residence with the band.

Our fall concert will feature the Friends University Guitar Ensembles and the Friends University Chamber Orchestra. Student soloist Drew Patton will be performing Vivaldi's "Lute Concerto in D Major" with the Chamber Orchestra.

The Concert Band joins the Senseney Music Community Band to perform Christmas musical favorites at Central Community Church. Funds from this concert will benefit 'Youth Horizons'.

An internationally renowned soloist, Julia Heinen, will appear with the Concert Band. This concert features music to be performed by the band at the Kansas Music Educators Association convention.

Our spring concert will feature two faculty soloists. Faculty violist Kay Buskirk will be performing Paul Hindemith's "Trauermusik" and faculty guitarist Randy Zellers will be performing Daniel Racer's "Concerto for Electric Guitar and Chamber Orchestra".
