Eligibility

To be eligible, students must demonstrate financial need by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The scholarship amount is determined based on the financial information provided in the FAFSA. While there is no formal deadline to apply for the scholarship, students are strongly encouraged to complete their FAFSA before the beginning of the academic year.

In addition to meeting financial requirements, recipients are expected to maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 throughout their studies. This scholarship supports students who are committed to pursuing academic excellence in the field of Spanish language and culture.

About Rose Estill

Born July 18,1934, in Barcelona, Spain, Rose Marie Sole Estill was the daughter of Mariono and Antonia Sole and sister to Esther and Alberto. Talented in writing and performance, she pursued education while working in fashion retail. In 1957, she married American teacher Robert Estill and moved to Wichita, Kansas. Rose Marie earned her B.A. from Friends University, her M.A. from Wichita State, and pursued doctoral studies at the University of Colorado, Boulder. She served Wichita Public Schools for over 30 years as a Spanish teacher, counselor, and department chair, later teaching at Wichita State. Honored for her excellence, she was recognized in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers. Rose Marie’s life was filled with family, travel, theater, and friendship. After 48 years of marriage and caring for Robert until his passing, she found happiness again with her partner of 18 years, Jerry Harney. Her legacy of kindness and dedication lives on.
