Friends University will present the classic comedy The Importance of Being Earnest, Thursday, March 11 through Saturday, March 13 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 14 at 2 p.m.. The spring Theatre production was written Oscar Wilde and is produced by special arrangement with Dramatic Publishing, Co.

The Importance of Being Earnest is a charming and witty tale of eccentric ruses, mistaken identity, unrequited love, cherished romance, and family discovery. Oscar Wilde’s clever and infamous story is delivered in present day as the characters share both their fondest ambitions and high-mannered opinions.

Heralded as one of the best plays of the 19th century, the story is often considered a comic masterpiece because of its dynamic wit, uncomplicated plot, while characters both express and learn of each other’s hidden motives, inner desires, and often staunch behaviors. The popular story is a simple snapshot of the never-ending vanity of some of its self-absorbed, high-society members.

Tickets for the virtual performances are free and can be reserved at friendsu.eventbrite.com. Donations are encouraged.
