Singing Quakers choirs celebrate 90th anniversary

Celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Friends University Singing Quakers at 7 p.m. October 4 in the Riney Fine Arts Center’s Sebits Auditorium.

The concert will feature both the Singing Quakers and the Singing Quakers Alumni Choir. Dr. Cecil Riney and Dr. Mark Bartel will conduct the choirs as well as visiting alumni singers in several mass choir selections. The evening will include a brief history of the Singing Quakers and a reception following the concert.

Founded in 1924, the choir has gained an enviable reputation as one of the most distinguished choral organizations in the country. In adoration to God, the choir has brought the finest choral music to audiences throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Mexico, New Zealand and Australia. In May 2015 the choir will tour to Costa Rica.

This concert and reception are free and open to the public. Donations will be received to help with expenses for the Singing Quaker Tour to Coasta Rica in May 2015.
