Community Orchestra It's a Celebration

The Friends University Community Orchestra will present its fall concert, It’s a Celebration! Oct. 30, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. in Riney Fine Arts Center’s Sebits Auditorium.

Richard Roller, Friends University adjunct faculty, will be returning to Friends to conduct the orchestra. Roller is an alumnus of Friends University and led the orchestra in its 50th and 51st seasons. In addition to recognizing the 60th anniversary season of the orchestra, the program will include the Academic Festival Overture of Johannes Brahms, and the Singing Quakers’ performance of the Coronation Mass by W.A. Mozart.

“We are pleased to join the Community Orchestra for a performance of the Coronation Mass,” said Singing Quaker Director Dr. Mark Bartel. “This performance is also in preparation for the Singing Quakers’ tour to Italy and Austria in June 2019, where the choir will perform the work with St. Peter’s Orchestra of Vienna.”

The performance will take place in Sebits Auditorium on the Friends University campus at 2100 W. University Ave., Wichita, Kan., and the cost is $9 for adults and $6 for seniors and students.
