Friends University Ballet department presents Choreography Showcase virtually on Oct. 2

Wichita, Kan. – Friends University will present the fall Choreography Showcase, a performance illustrating the creative direction of four talented dancers. The performance will be livestreamed on the Friends University Fine Arts Facebook page, on Friday, Oct. 2, at 7:30 p.m.

The performance will include two pieces conceived as works for the camera and two solos that showcase the choreographers’ craft and interpretation. Additionally, the ballet majors will perform variations from the vast ballet repertoire. The night will end with a group number honoring the late Nancy Stark-Smith’s, Underscore. Stark-Smith was a founding participant of “contact improvisation” and passed away this past May.

“Where you are when you don’t know where you are is one of the most precious spots offered by improvisation. It is a place from which more directions are possible than anywhere else,” said Stark-Smith.

The performance is free to view and will premiere on Oct. 2 at 7:30 p.m. Select “going” to the event to get a reminder when the performance is going live: Will replace with link once PR is approved
