Friends University presents its first outdoor concert of the semester, University Band Concert, Sept. 28

Wichita, KS – The Friends University Concert Band will present its fall concert outdoors on the Rose Window Plaza on Monday, Sept. 28 at 6 p.m.

The music will recognize and pay homage to the heritage of Friends University, the Wichita community and the state of Kansas.

“Since the pandemic began in March, musicians have been patiently waiting for the opportunity to safely make music again as part of a band, orchestra or choir. We are thrilled to be ‘back to band’ at Friends and are anxious to share our concert with a live, socially distanced, audience,” said Director of Bands, Shawn Knopp.

The concert is free to all and will take place on the Rose Window Plaza beneath the iconic Davis Clocktower at 2100 W. University Ave., Wichita, Kan.. Those attending the concert are asked to bring their own chair or blanket for seating, wear a face-covering and follow social-distancing guidelines.
