Friends University Singing Quakers culminate tour with Home Concert March 18-20

Wichita, KS – Friends University’s Singing Quakers will present Songs of the Spirit March 18-20, 2022. The concert is a finale to their four-day singing tour in Friendswood, San Antonio and Fort Worth, Texas.

Songs of the Spirit will offer music that explores different aspects of the spirit – prayerful, sorrowful and joyful – and will feature works by Brahms, Dett, Desenclos, Woo and more. The Singing Quakers will also reprise a commissioned piece “Equality is in the Air We Breathe” to the accomplished composer, Gwyneth Walker, herself!

With music from the Renaissance and Romantic periods to concert spirituals and gospel music, this concert is sure to be uplifting.

“The home concert this year is going to be full of great music that anyone can enjoy! You’ll have your classical emotional songs but we also have these fun, upbeat songs that will get you moving,” said junior Singing Quaker, Lorenz Looney.

Performances are March 18 and 19 at 7:30 p.m. and March 20 at 2 p.m. in Sebits Auditorium in the Riney Fine Arts Center on the Friends University campus. Tickets for the concert are $16 for adults and $12 for seniors and students and can be purchased at friends.edu/fineartstickets.
