Friends University launches first-ever doctorate program with Doctor of Ministry in Formation and Soul Care (DMin) degree

Friends University is thrilled to announce the addition of our newest program and first of its kind at the doctoral level. The Doctor of Ministry in Formation and Soul Care (DMin) at Friends University is a doctoral-level program seeking to equip Christian practitioners with a comprehensive biblical, theological, and practical paradigm for Christian formation and soul care in a 21st-century context.

“We are delighted to further enhance the spiritual gifts of those who are called into ministry with this program thus cultivating a deeper awareness of the work of the Holy Spirit in the church, the work of formation and in ministry,” said Dr. A.J. Swoboda, lead mentor for the Doctor of Ministry program at Friends University. “The Christian roots of Friends University are an integral part of the history and the foundation in which the university was founded, and I am honored to be a part of the transformative educational experience of Christ-like leaders.”

The DMin program is four years total with three years devoted to the core curricular schedule examining biblical theology (“awareness of God”; year one), self-knowledge and soul care (“knowledge of self”; year two), and its implications for mission and engagement in the world (“mission to others”; year three). A fourth year will be devoted to writing and finalizing a doctoral project.
