Craig Curry leads the Jazz Vocal Ensemble and Lisa Hittle directs the Jazz Ensemble II in this concert highlighting both vocal and instrumental jazz classics.

From classics and spirituals to hymns and folk songs, the Singing Quakers Alumni Choir presents “A Concert of American Music” directed by Dr. Cecil J. Riney and featuring guest conductor Dr. Kevin Fenton (G’84), Professor of Choral Conducting and Ensembles at Florida State University.
FRIENDS UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY ORCHESTRA CONCERT WITH CHOIRS

America’s rich musical traditions flow from a variety of sources, including folk songs, spirituals, hymns and symphonic music. Come and explore a bit of our nation’s musical heritage as the orchestra joins forces with the 200-voice Friends University Choral Union in a concert entitled, “Made in the U.S.A.” The choir and orchestra will perform Leonard Bernstein’s popular Chichester Psalms (sung in Hebrew) and arrangements of familiar hymns by Mack Wilberg.

Celebrate the message of Christmas with this beloved tradition. Christmas Candlelight features the Singing Quakers, Concert Choir, Women’s Chorus, Madrigals, Kantorei and the 200-voice Choral Union, and will close with the premiere performance of a brand new work by composer Craig Curry.

CHORAL CONNECTIONS CONCERT

The Singing Quakers, Concert Choir, Women’s Chorus and Jazz Vocal
Ensemble will share the stage with some of Kansas’ top high school
choirs. Highlighting spirituals and gospel music, the concert features
special guest conductor, Dr. Keith Hampton, and gospel singer and
distinguished Friends University alumnus, Earnest Alexander.

Throughout the 10th anniversary year of 9/11 the Singing Quakers will
commemorate the tragedy of that day through music. Seeking to give voice
to that which is beyond words, the choir will perform songs of mourning
and remembrance as well as songs which offer comfort, redemption and
hope for the future.

What event combines songs, snicker-doodles, coffee and college students?
The Concert Choir Coffeehouse! This annual fund-raiser is an
anticipated event every spring as choir members share their talents and
favorite cookies. It’s different each year so you won’t want to miss
this year’s offering of music, skits, juggling and who knows what else.
We’ll also have coffee mugs available to sip java from while enjoying
the performance, so... on with the show!
