Update on Award Offers for 2024-2025 Due to FAFSA Delays

As many of you are aware the Department of Education has completely revamped the FAFSA for the 2024-2025 aid year. Unfortunately, there have been significant delays and implementation issues. We share the frustration that we know many of you are feeling! As a financial aid office, we wanted to reach out and share an estimated timeline and offer a few suggestions of things that you can do to partner with us.

Estimated Timeline

Following is an estimated timeline. Please know that we may need to adjust this timeline as we receive information from the Department of Education and outside vendors:

  • March 1-15:
    • The Department of Education will begin sending FAFSA’s in batches to colleges/universities.
    • The Department of Education estimates that they will have a fix in place so that parents without SSN’s can create a studentaid.gov account.
  • March 1-April 15:
    • Our office will work with outside vendors to update our system so that we can load FAFSA’s and award financial aid. We will run tests to make sure that all the new rules are working so that we can offer accurate financial aid offers.
  • April 15:
    • Our office anticipates that we will begin sending out financial aid offers. Offers will continue to be issued in May/June/July with the goal of having offers to students before their classes start. Students will receive an email notification to their student email when their offer is ready to be viewed on FalconHub.

What Can You Do To Help?

There are a few things that you can do to help:

  1. Complete your FAFSA – if you have not yet completed the 2024-2025 FAFSA, please do that as soon as possible online at https://studentaid.gov/.
  2. After your FAFSA is processed (processing will begin in March) you will receive an email with instructions on how to view your FAFSA Submission Summary. If the FAFSA was processed successfully you will receive a Student Aid Index (SAI) on your FAFSA Submission Summary.
    • If there is no SAI – you should review your FAFSA Submission Summary and log into your FAFSA and make any necessary corrections.
    • If there is an SAI – you should review your FAFSA Submission Summary for any errors and check if your FAFSA was selected for verification. If your FAFSA is selected for verification you should monitor your student email/FalconHub for requested documents and submit them to our office as soon as possible.
  3. Sign up for an ENROLLMENT DAY to choose your fall courses if you are an incoming freshman.
  4. Review your FALCON FLIGHT CHECKLIST before your scheduled MOVE IN DAY
