Three Friends University students brought home top honors from the 33rd annual Great Plains Students’ Psychology Competition March 15-16 at Creighton University.
Friends University is partnering with Metropolitan Community College, Kansas City (MCC) and Neosho County Community College (NCCC) on articulation agreements that allow students to seamlessly transfer credits from both community colleges to Friends University.
Friends University is helping to make the dream of a perfect prom night into a reality with the third annual Gown Town event.
Area high school students are invited to attend Gown Town from 4 to 8 p.m. March 8, and 9 a.m. to noon March 9. Boys and girls will be able select from donated gowns, suits, and accessories that will be available free of charge. A seamstress will also be onsite to help with alterations.
Join Friends University’s Freddy Falcon, a variety of other Wichita-area mascots and the Friends University community for the 2nd Annual President's Run Saturday, April 6.
Participants will have the option of running the Falcon 5K Competitive Race or the non-competitive Mascot Mile Fun Run/Walk around Friends University’s beautiful campus and the surrounding Delano neighborhood. The 5K race will be a part of the upcoming Prairie Fire Spring Half Marathon in May.
Friends University has approved a modest 5 percent tuition increase for traditional undergraduate students in the College of Business, Arts, Sciences and Education (CBASE) for the 2013-14 academic year.
“The University has worked very hard in recent years to ensure our costs remain as reasonable as possible,” said Dr. T.J. Arant, president of Friends University.
As part of Cherry Carnival Week, Friends University welcomes students, staff, faculty, alumni and their families to attend the 15th annual Chili Cook-off from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, in the Garvey P.E. Center Multipurpose Room. This free event has become popular in the campus community with more than 900 attendees last year. Participants can sample each booth’s chili and vote on best theme and best chili as well as snack on hot dogs, beverages and ice cream.
Friends University alumnus Steve Stelljes has spent much of his 60 years enforcing rules and ethical standards in sports. On Sunday, he will take this lifelong endeavor to Super Bowl XLVII in Louisiana as the head linesman when the Baltimore Ravens take on the San Francisco 49ers. Stelljes is a 1974 graduate of Friends University.

Deb Lutz has devoted her life to helping at-risk children. It is a mission she started when she was a student at Friends University, and she has dedicated more than 30 years of her life to giving hope to children across the state of Kansas.

A group of 13 students from La Salle University in Cancun, Mexico, will be visiting Friends University for a cultural and language immersion program in January.
Beginning in January 2013, Friends University will offer its Human Resource Management (HRM) program through the convenience of online technology – a medium that fits well with the program’s mission and goals, said Kathy Slemp, HRM program director.
