You are a creative thinker, and writing has always been key components to your success. You are also a reader who responds almost intuitively to both classic and contemporary works of literature. Intrigued by every aspect of what it means to be human, you seek to continue to develop your passion for the written language and literature, and want to do so in the company of likeminded people, under the guidance of caring and committed faculty who are also readers, writers, and leaders in their field. You are exactly who we are looking for to join our English program at Friends University!
Graduates of our English program develop excellent writing, research and communication skills. They also develop the ability to think analytically and creatively – two very important attributes for success in a variety of employment fields including publishing, public relations, management training programs, human resources, media, sales, journalism, human services or teaching. Many graduates of our major also pursue graduate studies in the fields of law, creative writing, English literature and theatre.
Departmental scholarships are available, as is participation in Sigma Tau Delta, the international English honor society or The Gallery, the Friends University student-run creative writing magazine.
