Apply for Financial Aid

If students wish to receive federal aid then the Free Application for Federal Student Aid must be completed each year. File the FAFSA by Friends University Financial Aid priority deadline February 1. The FAFSA is available October 1, so apply early if you can. Friends University Federal School Code is 001918.

Step 2: Meet Friends University Eligibility Requirements

  • What you need to do
  • What we do
    • For new students, we verify that you are admitted to Friends University
    • For continuing students, we review your SAP
    • We verify that you are in an eligible academic program

Step 3: Check Your “To Do” List

  • What you need to do
    • Log in to FalconHub
    • Check for financial aid required documents
    • Read the details of each item for action you may need to take
    • Understand how the financial aid required documents impact your financial aid
    • Check your financial aid required documents regularly for status updates or new items
    • Once all of your financial aid required documents are completed and satisfied, you are ready to go to Step 4
  • What we do
    • Process all paperwork. Notify you if there is missing information or documents.

Step 4: Wait to Hear From Us

  • What you need to do
    • Wait for your financial aid award offer notification to be emailed to your Friends University student email. (New student’s will receive an award letter via mail and returning student’s will receive an award letter notification via their student email). Financial Aid communications will be sent to your student email.
    • Once you get your award letter, continue to Step 5.
  • What we do
    • Send any corrections required to the U.S. Department of Education
    • For transfer students, verify aid is canceled at other schools
    • Verify Satisfactory Academic Progress
    • Verify acceptance to Friends University
    • Verify enrollment
    • Set your financial aid budget
    • Determine what programs are eligible for federal aid
    • Make initial awards
    • Review your awards to ensure your awards are accurate

Step 5: Accept Your Awards

  • What you need to do
    • Read the terms and conditions of financial aid
    • Log in to FalconHub to review your awards and your bill
    • Accept or Decline each award
    • Continue to Step 6
  • What we do
    • 24-48 hours after you accept your financial aid award, we begin processing your accepted awards
    • For accepted loans, we submit the information to the U.S. Department of Education

Step 6: Check for Additional Required Documents

  • What you need to do
    • If you need additional funding to help cover your balance then you may want to consider applying for the following loans:
    • Once all the required financial aid documents are satisfied on FalconHub, you are ready to continue to Step 7
  • What we do
    • Wait for you to complete any additional financial aid required documents
    • Wait to get confirmation from the U.S. Department of Education regarding any loan requirements

Step 7: Check for Disbursed Funds

  • What you need to do
    • Understand that disbursement is not the same thing as a refund
      • Disbursement: Financial Aid awards will disburse two weeks after the first class day for the semester. If your financial aid funds do not cover the full expense for your tuition, fees and on-campus housing balance, you will need to make a payment arrangements with Student Account Services. If there is money left over after your tuition, fees and on-campus housing balance is paid in full, you will receive a refund.
    • Payment plans can be made with Student Account Services by contacting their office at SAS@friends.edu, 316-295-5630 or by making payments online by logging into FalconHub
    • Refund: If your financial aid funds exceed the cost of your tuition, fees and on-campus housing balance, then Student Account Services will issue a refund.
    • Direct Deposit – If you choose this option, you can complete this process by logging into FalconHub. You will need to enter your existing bank routing and account numbers and then your refund will be deposited into this account.
    • Paper Check – If you choose this option, a paper check will be mailed to you.
    • Please note, that Student Account Services has up to 14 days from the date that your financial aid was disbursed to process a refund. Make sure that your current mailing address is up-to-date with the Registrar’s Office to prevent additional delays of your initial refund.

    • Verify your Satisfactory Academic Progress status is in good standing
    • Verify your enrollment meets disbursement requirements for each award
    • Disburse your financial aid

Step 8: Check for Your Refund

  • What you need to do
    • Contact Student Account Services for any refund related questions at 316-295-5630 or by email SAS@friends.edu.
  • What we do
    • Once your financial aid is disbursed and refunded to you, no further action is needed by our office.

Parent Access

Educational records are protected by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA). To grant a parent or others access to personal financial aid information, the student will need to complete PROXY electronically online.
